About Our Chapter
Since 1979 the Garden State Choral Chapter (GSCC) has denoted the
message of Jesus Christ by offering an invitation to its listeners to experience
the reality of God’s presence through their music. This New Jersey
Chapter of the National Convention of Gospel Choirs and Choruses
(NCGCC) was founded by Vivian B. Carman and the late Lewis Carman.
Garden State Choral Chapter has a diverse group of individuals ranging in
age, gifting and spiritual experiences. This diversity is what gives them an
individual and unique sound. In addition to their rich heritage, as affiliates of
the late father of Gospel music Thomas A. Dorsey’s convention
(NCGCC), Garden State ministers traditional gospel music under the same
anointing and convictions of the industries most noted and celebrated gospel
legends.
Their latest CD release entitled: “You Are The One” has taken this even
further by demonstrating their mastery of capturing the hearts and minds of
today’s audiences in sharing the Contemporary “good news” of the gospel
that goes beyond the walls of the traditional church incorporating urban
beats and influences which ministers into the spiritual lives of many. Garden
State strongly believes and attests to the fact that “It’s More Than Music...It's
Ministry"
The 25 year old 50-voice New Jersey based choir has been compared to
gospel artist such as Mississippi Mass, Wilmington Chester, T. D. Jakes &
the Potter’s House Choir and Donald Lawrence’s Tri-City Singers. This
anointed aggregation of musical priests takes pleasure in strengthening the
Body of Christ by ministering in prisons, hospitals, and rehabilitation centers,
parks and churches throughout the Tri-State area. They have been blessed
and highly favored to travel throughout the United States and abroad.
